WELCOME TO THE WOODSHED

In case you showed up here by mistake, a few things you'll need to know.
First, as the title implies, the woodshed is a place where you can get a verbal ass-whoopin' or we can share a few sips of some of Kosmo's sweet but powerful home-brewed picks, pans, rants and raves. The choice is yours.
Second, I'm retired. that means I have no schedule. I do what I want when I want. That includes answering questions or posting my picks. The only thing that will make that change is sending me money. (Fat chance that'll happen.)
Finally, I'm a gambler, not good enough to make a living at it, but good enough to keep the frig full of brews and smoke a good cigar occasionally
( I'm very partial to NoCal free-rolls ).
That's it. I hope you can use some of the info here to make yourself some money.
FYI: You can add any suggestions or questions in the comment box at the end of any post. Also, use the BLOG ARCHIVE button to view older posts.
PS: There's always some good info. at the very bottom of the page!!

WORLD CUP OR THE TRUE WORLD SERIES ?
I'm not not a soccer fanatic, but I do understand the game. And, it seems to me that soccer is the only game that is played at a professional level in almost every country. Any country can field a team, then win their way through the qualifiers and play for the world cup. That's what makes it a true world series. You can't do that in baseball. Yeah, I know baseball has international play, but not for all the marbles, not for the world championship. I guess maybe it's just a matter of semantics or maybe an oxymoron, but to me "World" implies everyone not just the good old USA.
I recently talked to a friend of mine about this World Cup vs. World Series crap. He brought up the Olympics as a kinda world championship competition. My argument here is, yes the world does compete, but not on an equal basis. A country with only one representative may in fact compete and win the gold medal in his/her chosen contest, but how is that fair when the "Winner" of the Olympics is based on total medals won. It just doesn't wash with me.

  1. Keep in mind, MLB probably represents more countries than the World Cup!

We need to send psycho boy Ozzie G. (White Sox manager)back to Venezuela.

  2. Not sure if I understand your statement?

"MLB probably represents more countries than the World Cup!"

I don't think baseball is as popular or played in more countries than soccer. Hells-bells, you can play soccer with just a tin can for the ball. Just draw a line at both ends of the street and kick the across the line. Baseball can't be played that easy. You gotta have more then just a ball.

As far as Ozzie goes, I find him somewhat amusing, but really don't give a fuck about him one way or another. Hey, wait a minute, your not one of those, "Send the brown skin mother-fucker back to where him came from", kinda guys are you?

  3. Let’s make sure we are politically correct for all you bleeding heart, Arizona boycotting, ignorant liberal flakes:

Let’s see- the first World Series in 1903 probably had little interest in other nations at that time. That is why it was labeled the World Series, but we can change it to the “U.S. Series” or maybe “America’s Cup” - oh wait, that’s a sailing label!!

Of course soccer’s World Cup should be changed to the Earth Cup or maybe the Global Cup.
There must be other galaxies in the universe with soccer teams pretty teed off right now that they didn’t get invited to the WORLD CUP.

I’m cheering on the Netherlands and Germany to meet in the finals. Oh no!! All white skinned players, I must be racist!!

    Back to Ozzie:

When interviewed after just winning the 2005 World Series, his first words were “Viva Venezuela”.
Sorry for sounding so patriotic, but disrespect of our American past time at this level is purely unacceptable, Tradition is tradition. What the hell does being born in a foreign country have to do with the accomplishments on the field. He has a history of tirades and slurs that have degraded many.

This is only my opinion, and I respect others, unlike this web site. In any case, to misconstrue the dislike or disapproval of another as a racial statement is twisted.

Don’t bother with a rebuttal, I won’t be visiting this site again.

    *** FOOTNOTE***

CIVIL WAR II will be approaching soon. Within the decade. This country is too divided for this not to happen. BE PREPARED BITCHES!!!!

  4. WOW! Sorry I pissed in your beer!
A simple "no" answer would have been nice.
I guess there are degrees of patriotism I find a little fanatical and disagree with. Tradition may well be tradition, but to follow blindly make you vulnerable to the wolves.

Gee whiz, I'll sure miss you!
PS; Good luck in your civil war.

  5. The World Series as a true planetary event is like saying the Miss Universe pageant is open to extraterrestrials.

The World Cup is the closest thing we have to a planet-wide event other than a United Nations meeting with the former being a bit more fun and the outcomes not as predictable as the latter.
